Billionaire Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk is sending one of his own cars into space! Musk says the upcoming launch of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket will carry his red 2008 Tesla roadster into space, where it will go as far as Mars.
The flight is a demonstration of the lifting capabilities of the new rocket, which will normally carry satellites on deep-space missions.
We don’t know the exact date of the launch, but it’s expected some time this month.
Musk’s Tesla wouldn’t exactly be the first car in space, as Apollo astronauts drove 3 “lunar rover” vehicles on the moon in the 1970s.
