6 California Counties Are Moving Down To Orange Reopening Tier

6 counties, including three in the Bay Area, are one step closer to reopening.

Yesterday, the state announced that San Francisco, Santa Clara, Lassen, Marin, Trinity and Yolo counties are now in the Orange Tier.

San Francisco, Marin and Santa Clara will now join San Mateo as the only four Bay Area counties in the less-restrictive tier.

The other remaining Bay Area counties are in the red tier or higher.

Some of the changes that come with the orange tier including indoor dining expanding to 50% capacity and retail stores and shopping malls operating at full capacity.

Santa Clara County Health Officer and Public Health Director Dr. Sara Cody said the tier change reflects the county’s persistence in reducing its cases and hospitalizations but advised residents to continue follow guidelines.

“To continue to prevent cases and resultant hospitalizations and deaths, we must continue to wear masks, social distance, stay outdoors as much as possible, and get vaccinated when it’s our turn.”
