Barack Obama Boulevard Unveiled In Downtown San Jose This Weekend!

At the beginning of the year, the city of San Jose decided to homage to former US president, Barack Obama, by naming a stretch of after him.

This past weekend, the city finally unveiled Barack Obama Boulevard to the public.

The renamed street – which runs near the SAP Center, was originally part of Autumn Street and several others. The newly named road stretches out approximately for half a mile.

“We always felt like it was going to happen because there was bipartisan support,” Alex Shoor, who proposed the idea in 2017, told The Mercury News. “San Jose is a progressive, open-minded city. Most of us want to grow up in a country where any one of our children can reach their dreams and ascend to the highest office in the land.”

San Jose is the second city in the Bay Area to name a street after the 44th president. Milpitas was the first.
