Last Friday, the California Department of Public Health unveiled new guidelines for guidelines for private gatherings amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The guidelines now allow multi-household gatherings outdoors, however, they are limited to three households. Those gatherings must continue to wear masks and follow other safety procedures set in place.
The state opted to set the limit to three households out of concern that people will be tempted to have even larger indoor activities with the approach of Halloween and other holidays during the colder months.
On Monday, Gov. Gavin Newsom said the rules recognize the increasing pressure for get-togethers among relatives and close friends.
In addition to the three household limit, the department has also implemented more guidelines for private gatherings.
