Some big-name artists have joined the lineup of this month’s 2020 MusiCares Person of the Year tribute concert honoring Aerosmith, including a pair of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees: Cheap Trick and ex-Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar.
This year’s edition of the annual gala takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in L.A. on January 24, two days before the 2020 Grammy Awards ceremony.
Other new additions to the MusiCares Person of the Year bill include actor/musician Johnny Depp, country singers LeAnn Rimes and Ashley McBryde, Latin pop star Luis Fonsi and singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw.
It’s worth mentioning that Depp plays with Cooper and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry in the hard-rock supergroup Hollywood Vampires.
Among the event’s previously announced performers are Alice Cooper, Foo Fighters, John Mayer, The Jonas Brothers, John Legend, Gary Clark Jr. and H.E.R.
The MusiCares Person of the Year gala raises money for the MusiCares Foundation, the charitable arm of the Recording Academy. The organization offers financial and medical assistance to members of the music community.
