The cities of San Jose and San Francisco had their curfews lifted as of 5am yesterday.
The San Jose city council voted to amend the curfew after some residents argued it violated their civil rights including the right to assemble. City leaders plan to revisit their curfew decision today.
“Following Saturday night, it was important for the safety of our residents to ensure that we could prevent the violence and vandalism that had taken place, but we know that the overwhelming majority of people out protesting are doing so peacefully and we trust that will continue,” Breed wrote.
Curfew remains in place for other cities in the state, including Oakland, Sacramento and Santa Clara.
