The Santa Clara County Fair opens Thursday, August 1st for four days of family fun. Organizers hope it continues its recovery after years of losing money. Last year’s fair attendance was nearly double that of 2017’s. I’m hoping that the tragedy in Gilroy doesn’t ruin the momentum.
This year you’ll find the expected carnival rides, farm animals, concerts, puppet shows, and other entertainment. Check out something new too, an “International Village” with Vietnamese, Indo-American and Latino-themed festivals, fireworks, and many very cool city-themed murals painted by local artists.
The Santa Clara County Fair runs Thursday, August 1st through Sunday, August 4th at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds on Umbarger Rd. in San Jose.
