Former President Jimmy Carter is recovering following a surgical procedure he had to repair a broken hip he suffered Monday morning. Carter, 94, was on his way to go turkey hunting when he suffered the tumble inside his home in Plains, Georgia. The Carter Foundation, which he founded in 1982, released this statement:

He was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2015. He announced several months later that a brain scan showed the cancer was gone following treatment. In March, he became the oldest living president in U.S. history. He hopes to continue turkey hunting after he fully recovers.
