Get Your Mickey Ears Ready, Disney to Begin Reopening California Resort July 9!

After a months-long closure due to coronavirus concerns, Disney announced on Wednesday that they are planning a phased reopening for their Southern California resort on July 9th!

That would be followed up with a proposed reopening of theme parks on July 17, just in time for 65th anniversary of the park. Of course, this is all pending local and state government approval.

Capacity at the park will be limited when it reopens, and guests will be asked to make reservations in advance.

And to further comply with crowd restrictions, Disney has opted to put all parades, firework shows and character meet & greets on hold.

Well I guess I won’t be seeing Goofy again any time soon.

“While certain aspects of your visit may change, I assure you the quality of our storytelling, magic of our experiences and the caliber of our cast members has not,” Disney Chairman Josh D’Amaro wrote in a blog post yesterday.

Disney initially planned for a two-week closure of their parks, reopening at the end of March. But on March 27, the company announced that both parks would be closed indefinitely. It’s only the third in the park’s history that the park has been closed for anything other than weather.
