“Grey’s Anatomy” Will Have Coronavirus Pandemic Storyline

The upcoming season of Grey’s Anatomy will be directly taken from world headlines.

COVID-19 will be the main focus as it relates to the doctors and patients on the show.

“There’s no way to be a long-running medical show and not do the medical story of our lifetimes,” executive producer Krista Vernoff said in an interview on Tuesday.

In preparation for the season, show writers are meeting with real doctors to discuss their experiences. The hope is to be able to translate those stories into the show.

“Every year, we have doctors come and tell us their stories, and usually they’re telling their funniest or craziest stories,” Vernoff explains of the show’s writing process.

The shooting schedule for the new season has yet to be announced.
