Justice has been served!
On Thursday, the sheriffs in Santa Cruz County announced that a suspect was finally arrested in connection to a firefighter’s stolen wallet.
The wallet belonged to a Cal Fire ground commander who was busy several days ago battling the CZU Lightning Complex fires.
Sheriff Jim Hart said that the thief took bank and credit cards, emptied them out and purchased several gift cards.
“The investigations team went to (the suspect’s) house and conducted a probation search because this man is on formal probation, and they located the clothing that was depicted in the video on our Facebook,” Hart said. “And they recovered merchandise that had recently been purchased.”
The man was arrested on several felony charges including credit card theft.
Hart said people from around the country became interested in the case, with some even offering to cover the firefighter’s losses.
