The rule of thumb is to NOT eat raw cookie dough. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC, is warning people this holiday season to avoid E. coli and salmonella by saying NO to raw cookie dough. BUT there’s a way around that.
Since cooking/baking flour and eggs kills the contaminates that cause dangerous diseases, you can eat pre-baked dough. Well, it’s actually the flour that’s pre-baked, and you can buy cookie dough advertised to eat without baking. It’s OK because it doesn’t contain eggs, and its flour has been heat-treated.
That’s the trick, baking your flour and not using eggs. Check out the video for some delicious varieties of edible cookie dough. It all starts with baking your flour on a cookie sheet before mixing it into yummy concoctions.
