Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is recovering at home after heart surgery. The musician, age 69 underwent open heart surgery last week, but his vocal cords were damaged during the surgery. His wife Kristen reports that they are not sure if the vocal damage is permanent, but the family is hopeful it is not. Buckingham has cancelled all future concerts and appearances.

Buckingham, who was fired by Fleetwood Mac last year has a family history of heart problems. His father died of heart failure at age 56 and his brother at age 46.

While the family did not release more information on the vocal injury, it is possible to damage nerves to the neck during surgery on the upper body.

It’s definitely been a bad year for this guy! He’s awesome and we hope he makes a full recovery and is back out there on stage soon.
