“Mall Gone”. Cupertino’s Vallco Is Demolished After 42 Years

Vallco Shopping Center is turning to dust. Demolition began Thursday, October 11th. The Cupertino Mall had been slowly dying for several years. Vallco opened its doors in 1976 with 140 stores. The number of shops and services grew to 180 at its peak.

For nearly 40 years shoppers enjoyed Vallco’s Macy’s, Sears and J.C.Penney stores. They left the mall between 2015 and 2016. One of the last attractions at the center were the AMC Theaters, which closed last spring, leaving the bowling alley and ice center.

Cupertino’s plan is not settled yet. You can watch the video for more.
