The bell has rung and class is back in session.
Yesterday, NBCUniversal announced their streaming service, called ‘Peacock,’ will launch in April and that they already have a high-profile show in the works.
A “Saved By the Bell” revival!
NBC is officially working with former show stars Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley on the new show…and other cast members are in talks to return, including Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
The premise behind the show would Gosselaar’s character becoming the governor of California and is met with an educational dilemma. His solution is to send a group of students to Bayside High, his old alma mater. The new students will supposedly give the over-privileged Bayside kids a much-needed and hilarious dose of reality.
Lopez and Berkley will be back in their old roles as A.C. Slater and Jesse Spano, who are now parents of students at Bayside.
And yes, Lopez said he plans on bringing back Slater’s classic mullet.
It’s unclear if Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (Kelly), Dustin Diamond (Screech), Lark Voorhies (Lisa), and Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding) have been approached …but unless there are any issues, you’d think that they would be involved.
There’s no official word on when production will begin.
