Paul McCartney is one of the world’s wealthiest musicians, with a net worth over $1.2 billion.
It’s safe to say he’s not hurting when it comes to guitar picks.
Which is why it was odd to spot him last week creating DIY picks by flattening pennies on a railway track.
This brings a whole new meaning to Penny Lane
After a passing train flattened the coins, Sir Paul, wearing shorts, T-shirt and a Team GB Olympic cap, could be seen collecting them before returning home.
The use of flattened coins as picks is not an uncommon one. Queen’s Brian May also uses coins for picks because the metal is especially strong.
Macca was once said to have worn acrylic nails to stop his fingers bleeding, before returning to using the pick.
Technically, it’s against the law to deface U.S. currency…but it’s really only a problem if your messing with it, and then trying to spend it again. Something tells me Paul isn’t going to need to spend those pennies.
