Memorial Day Weekend is typically one of the busiest travel periods of the year – but not in 2020.

Yesterday, AAA predicted ‘record low’ travel for the holiday weekend due to the coronavirus pandemic, especially since a number of states still have travel restrictions or stay-at-home orders in place.

Last year, more than 43 million Americans traveled over Memorial Day weekend – one of the highest-volume weekends ever.

“Last year, 43 million Americans traveled for Memorial Day Weekend,” AAA senior vice president Paula Twidale said, adding, “With social distancing guidelines still in practice, this holiday weekend’s travel volume is likely to set a record low.”

Assuming more states lift travel restrictions, AAA is preparing their travel forecasts for late summer and fall.

How do you plan to spend Memorial Day weekend?
