As soothing as a Chris Wondolowski goal.
Our beloved team, the San Jose Earthquakes, are helping to feed East San Jose youth who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. They’ll be donating $21,ooo and in doing so they’ll also be providing free breakfast and lunch for over 12,000 kids.
“As the crisis deepens, our most vulnerable communities are facing a multitude of unique challenges, including a lack of nutrition and readily available meal options,” Earthquakes Director of Community Relations Rahul Devaskar said.
In the span of less than two weeks, the Quakes started a GoFund Me page which raised $10,510 for the Alum Rock Union School District. In a return effort, the Quakes Foundation, the team’s charitable foundation matched each dollar raised, totaling $21,020!
The money raised was donated to the district’s Child Nutrition Program to help feed students across 27 elementary and middle schools in the district.
The following schools are offering breakfast and lunch meals to children under 18 through Apr. 10:
The donation will also cover costs for volunteer and staff safety materials, supplies, meals, and to support day-to-day operations during the pandemic.
