It’s been 15 years since we first saw the employees of Dunder Mifflin – Scranton on screen and even now, we’re still learning more about them.
Today, a new book about the hit NBC show, “The Office”, is providing fans with more than we originally thought about the show.
Written by Andy Greene, the book, titled “The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s,” even made the bold suggestion that star Steve Carell didn’t want to leave the show.
His character, Michael Scott, departed the show in the middle of season 7.
According to the book, those who were close to Carell on the show said he wanted to continue to portray Michael Scott on screen. However, sources sited poor communication on the part of the network and he was not offered a new contract before the season’s end.
Despite wanting to stay, it was then that Carell decided not to renew his contract.
Upon his departure, the show held an emotional going away party for Carell in the warehouse, where he made a speech full of “That’s what she said!” jokes.
Furthermore, the more book discusses more, such as Jim’s famous gas station proposal to Pam, the actor who almost replaced Carell as the new boss and the thoughts about a possible reboot.
Only tell will tell if that reboot will ever see the light of day.
