Good news if you still haven’t completed your taxes this year!

Yesterday, the Internal Revenue Service announced that they are extending this year’s tax deadline to May 17!

“This continues to be a tough time for many people, and the IRS wants to continue to do everything possible to help taxpayers navigate the unusual circumstances related to the pandemic, while also working on important tax administration responsibilities,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig in a statement.

However, this deadline is only applied to federal returns and taxes. Which means taxpayers will need to check to see if due dates for state taxes have been changed.

The IRS says they will provide more guidance on the extended filing season in the coming days.
