The Midsummer Classic Is Officially Canceled! MLB Says There Will Be No All-Star Game This Year

Due in part to the pandemic, Major League Baseball is finally set to start a compressed, 60-game regular season on July 23.

With the season set to begin on that date, the league has gone ahead and officially canceled the 2020 All-Star Game, which was to be held on July 14 at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium.

The cancelation of the event also includes all other All-Star-related activities, including the Home Run Derby.

The midsummer classic has only ever been canceled once before and that was in 1945 because of World War II.

League commissioner Rob Manfred affirmed that the Dodgers will host the next available All-Star Game in 2022. It would’ve been the first time in 40 years that the team would have hosted the game.

The 2021 game will be held at the Atlanta Braves’ Truist Park.
