The 15-track album will consist of songs that The Purple One himself originally recorded before handing them off to other artists. It’ll include tracks like Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” Sheila E’s “This Glamorous Life” and “Manic Monday” from The Bangles.
On behalf of Prince’s estate, the album will be curated by Jay-Z and Troy Carter and will released today as an exclusive on the Tidal streaming service. It will be available on other streaming platforms starting on June 21. A 180-gram purple vinyl version of Originals will also be released on July 19.
Before he died in 2016, Prince had also been working on a memoir titled, The Beautiful Ones. Random House Publishing announced that the memoir will be released in its unfinished form sometime later this fall.
