Hasbro, known for making some of the world’s most iconic games and toys, has shifted to helping frontline medical workers during the pandemic.
Over the past weekend, the company announced they will team with card and board game manufacturer Cartamundi to create 50,000 plastic face masks per week.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to work together with our partners at Cartamundi to produce much-needed personal protective equipment (PPE), to directly assist the critical needs of front-line medical workers in our community,” John Frascotti, president and COO of Hasbro, wrote in a statement.
Hasbro has so far committed to making at least 250,000 masks and will continue to monitor the crisis in order to see if more masks need to be made.
The news comes as nurses, doctors and other health care workers across the US face a shortage of personal protective equipment.
