Walmart Announces That All Stores Will Be Closed On Thanksgiving

Although it’s only July, Walmart is making a big change in their holiday-shopping season.

Yesterday, the retail giant announced that all stores will be closed for Thanksgiving.

This will mark the first since the 1980’s that the company has closed their doors for Thanksgiving.

In a memo to employees, Walmart C.E.O. John Furner wrote, “We know holiday shopping will be different this year, and we will be managing sales events differently. Our best ideas come from our associates, and this year we have decided to close our stores on Thanksgiving Day – November 26.”

In addition, at the beginning of August, Walmart will also be handing out employee bonuses in the amount of $428 million.

What do you think of the move by Walmart?
