Washington & Lincoln Made Their Moms Proud

We celebrate Presidents’ Day in honor of two great leaders who were both born in February to inspiring mothers. George Washington and Abraham Lincoln spoke many impressive words but gave special credit to their mothers. I think that says something special about their character. Enjoy these thought-provoking quotes.

George Washington Quotes:

  • “My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw.
  • “It is better to be alone than in bad company.”
  • “It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one.”
  • “If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”

Abe Lincoln Quotes:

  • “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”
  • “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”
  • “You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”
  • “I am a slow walker, but I never walk back.”
  • “No man has a good enough memory to be a successful liar.”
